We are seeking an ideal applicant that can support evaluations and associated research projects in Karitane’s Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub.
POSITION TITLE: Research Officer

STATUS: Fixed Term Part Time (16 hours per week) for 1 year with possibility of extension:
Ideally the 2 days can be Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays

PURPOSE
The position holder will assist and support Karitane’s vision through the continual pursuit of excellence in Research and Evaluation. The role will support the evaluation of Karitane’s Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub, and associated research projects. The role will report to the Director of Research, Associate Professor Jane Kohlhoff.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- A university degree in Psychology, Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, or related discipline.
- Knowledge of research protocols, experimental design and planning as involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
- Experience with a range of data collection methods including quantitative surveys and conducting qualitative interviews
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Excel and SPSS.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication skills to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships whilst exercising discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- An understanding of and commitment to Karitane’s vision and purpose, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES
- Administer study protocols including participant recruitment, data collection, and data management.
- Perform quantitative/qualitative data analyses as required by the research project.
- Manage the technical aspects of databases, including coordinating and executing data cleaning, data management processes and ensuring research integrity in research databases.
- Monitor research protocols, provide problem solving and resolution to any evolving problems related to design, implementation and analysis.
- Proactively assist with research reports, peer-reviewed publications, presentations, ethics applications and progress reports.
- Liaise with stakeholders and collaborators and actively participate in meetings and discussions as required.
- Coordinate, plan and complete day-to-day research activities within the framework of agreed project timelines and responsibilities.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Fixed term employment status is in accordance with the Named NSW (Non - Declared) Affiliated Health Organisation Employee Agreement. Shift times and days may be varied according to the needs of the organisation. Karitane services are provided at a number of sites within the Sydney Metropolitan Area and across NSW.
The majority of Karitane services close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, during which time employees are required to take leave.

- Category A workers are required to meet and maintain the vaccination criteria (as per the current NSW Health policy directive) including annual influenza vaccinations. Annual Influenza vaccinations are mandatory.
